Hawaii Senate Bill 2882: Relating To State Buildings.

What it does

Requires certain state buildings with the intent of serving a secondary purpose as an emergency shelter and designed on or after July 1, 2027, to be designed to withstand Category 5 hurricanes and be used as shelters in the event of an emergency. Designates the Department of Accounting and General Services as the lead agency in enforcing this requirement in consultation with the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency. Requires the Department to adopt rules. Effective 1/1/2525. (SD1)
